Central to CSUMB is the belief that applied learning better prepares students for their future career goals in both graduate school and the job sector. In TAT, "learning by doing" means thinking, communicating, expressing through media making.

In support of this learning model, the TAT Department provides facilties and equipment for a wide variety of media production in digital video, audio, 16mm film, interactive media, projection, and the supporting computers and software central to today's creative media production.

The TAT Studio

A multi-use studio equipped with broadcast audio and lighting is central to the production curriculum.

The Studio Control Room

The Sound and Lighting Board in Studio Control Room

The Video Switcher, GraphicsBoard, and Intercom System in Studio Control Room

The Digital Control Room

The control room enables multiple formats to be routed between the Studio, Edit Suites, and the World Theatre, the performing arts facility adjacent to the TAT Department where the TAT Capstone Festival is held each semester.

TAT students are employed as Media Technicians and support Department use under supervision of Broadcast TEchnicians and Engineers.

TAT teaches a variety of digital video and film camera formats including: miniDV, DV, HDV, and 16mm sync sound.

Studio Cameras

The TAT Studi is equipped with three broadcast cameras.

The Studio Green Screen

The green screen is used for live and post produced compositing.

The TAT Digital Media Lab

The Digital Media Lab provides twenty-six systems for course instruction and open lab. Software includes the latest software from Apple, Adobe, and ProTools. The Lab provides audio amps for students to connect headphones and work quietly in the lab environment.

Editing & Post Suites

TAT provides four post-production suites for advanced courses in Editing, Sound Finishing, and Compositing and Capstone. Students can work individually or with a small team where sound may be played and discussion can happen in the suite.
